Bill GagneHere are my thoughts on the current financial situation:
"All" the politicians and pundits should quit talking down to the american people.
Perhaps they should consider that the public is fighting mad and stop trying to convince themselves, and the public, that we, the people, just don't understand the situation.
We understand that there's a serious risk involved with not passing a bailout bill. But,I believe that a huge percentage of americans just don't care at this point. We've been lied to and cheated for years. We're sick of it, and of the Washington types that are probably not telling us everything even now, withholding info on the devil in the details. What politicaly-expediant little gems are hidden in any bill they propose? Is every cent of any monies regained to be used to pay down the federal debt? How can we trust anything they have to say at this point?
And I keep hearing that americans are afraid of what might happen. ReallY? I don't think so; we're disgusted and mad enough to take our chances. After all, the Washington types have shown us (over and over again) that their most finely-honed skill is telling lies.
We, the people, want someone to explain to us (truthfully)what the real genesis of the problem was. Some have said that the political pressure on Freddie and Fannie to fund low-income home purchasers is the root of the problem. I don't know, and can't know, if there is any truth to that. If it is true, someone should be shouting it loud and clear so that we, "the great unwashed", uninformed taxpayers can evaluate it.
