I'm a reader, a writer and a bookseller who happens to work at large public library where I am constantly surrounded by the latest and greatest in books every work day. James BashkinThe comments/reviews are very well written and the site is nicely designed- attractive and functional, with photos that add to the appeal without distracting from the purpose.
I like the library search links based on zip code, especially since I have a moratorium on buying books for a number of reasons.
The personal commentary is pretty personal, as advertised. I think that the site would have broader appeal without this side of things, not because one doesn't care about about Alan after getting to know him, more because one does care and it isn't always easy to read about what is going on. However, it may not serve the author's needs then.
I think it would be worth considering splitting the site in two, books & personal. My 2 cents only- it really isn't any of my business. Again, the site is written with great clarity, and the book comments are easily enough to help potential readers decide about trying a book out.
