   I'm not sure what critereon they applied, but it strikes me that the jobs listed at the front end, while perhaps not particularly exciting to most, are respected professional positions which probably involve very little stress. That's probably not an easy combination to come by. They're also relatively isolated tasks that probably allow for immersion and involve few interruptions. And if job satisfaction is a factor (which I'm sure it is), it's probably pertinent that none of them are jobs one would be likely to just fall/drift into, or choose because it was a "good profession", but would almost certainly be related to a specific niche interest.

   Oh, wait, they have "painter" on there, but I'm not sure if they mean "artist painter" or "house painter".
   
   I think Tiffany hit the nail on the head about the best jobs, and, the worst jobs seem to be the more dangerous jobs to have with the least reward.
   
   Working as a Lumberjack is very dangerous, very hard, and certainly not the best pay-out all things considered.

      I think they mean the construction worker type painter. I worked as a painter for a while and I enjoyed it. It's almost like meditation moving the roller up and down... getting just the right amount of paint on it... And then you have the satisfaction of having renewed something.
      
      My job is number 5 on the list. I get to work from home, set my own hours, the money's not bad...

      I like painting too, actually. You know, the fumes don't hurt either....well, not until the morning anyway
      
      I had originally gone into engineering (mechanical, not software) but I ended up getting bogged down in areas that didn't interest me at all. I go stir crazy in office settings. I need physical work.

      I'm honestly surprised, though, to see so many construction industry jobs at the bottom of the list.

      In my experience, parole officers don't get depressed because they view their parolees as the enemy. It's a kind of victory when they get to put them back in prison, which happens with some regularity. And it's much easier to revoke parole than it is to get an initial criminal conviction--burden of proof is much lower and the violation needn't necessarily actually constitute a crime--so they rarely experience the frustrations of police and prosecutors.

   I don't see why the worst jobs are bad, most of them are fairly well paid and essential. I could think of much worse ones.

      Depends on where you live, and where you work. Like a head auto mechanic makes really good money, whereas the low guy on the totem pole is barely scraping by. And, what you earn depends on who you work for. Some companies pay well, others don't pay jack.
      
      I do like mechanics though. Those stained calloused hands......erm, oh, hello there, did I say that out loud?

      I was a mechanic during most of my 20s. I had a girlfriend who said she'd get turned on watching me work. lol!

   I know lumberjacks and roustabouts make very good money, I would think the garbage collector, the childcare worker and the postman were the lowest paid of those.
   
   And you are a pervert! Industrial hand cleaner should never, I repeat NEVER!, be used as a lubricant.

      Oh no, no. It's much too gritty for my taste.
      
      Oh, but our postal workers get paid a ton of money here - but it is a stressful job. I make sure to always do nice things for my mailman. You know, just in case...(plus he's really nice).
      
      I also give hot coffee to the garbage collectors. But not the recycling guys. They're mean and toss my bin around the street.
