Bing.com just launched amidst a huge advertising barrage by Microsoft. How does the traffic quality compare to Google. Here's an interesting article with a case study www.highrevenue.com/seo/search-engine-traffic-comparison-report-bing-vs-goo...

Very interesting note regarding bounce rate. How is your bing stats coming along?

It's really too early to say, but if you are a blogger you need to work differently with Bing, it seems to be a bit more like Cuil

bounce rate depends on other factors also.I can show statistics which have more bounce rate with bing. Please read my another thread here www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/bingcom-nothing-new

Bing is poor in indexing and updating websites/blogs .A blog with 1000 posts which is there in live.com database is still having 84 posts indexed and the same database , same algorithms are used by bing.com.If database and algorithm of indexing itself is poor how results can be better ?

You can verify by entering your blog in bing and checking how many pages they have indexed.Even if you submit using webmaster panel nothing will happen for months or years.

If you read the story on highrevenue.com they used an older more established site to profile the traffic.

i have entered your blog for search in bing and google.

    site:http://www.businessthreadsonly.com

bing shows 25 poorly indexed pages

google shows 167 pages with full details

That is what I realised as well for my own site. Bing is too young

Indexing appears to be a very big issue with Bing (for the moment at least). Powerful and complete indexing is surely the most fundamental element for any search engine.

So only people who submit their sites will get a good crawling?

no no no, the documentation that used to be available at the previous search engine Live.com was awesome, I assume it's still there but now it's been Binged.

It's a matter of test, test, test... which is rule one of the web anyway.

I posted that link because I know he stuff there is very good. There used to be dozens of pages for Webmasters there

i have submitted few blogs to live before one year using webmaster option and verified the site also. But only few posts got indexed out of thousands.
Now i have submitted through bing.com/webmaster option still no improvement.

      Did you read their documentation?

there are some technical guidelines and requirements for a site.I have not read it completely. Please give url of any particular page you are talking of.

The important point is when google and yahoo are able to index whole website within few days , bing or microsoft can not say that it does not meet some requirements. If they do not index they are looser not the website owner.

this means the database of bing is approximately 1/10th of google and that also outdated.
So what will be the quality of search results ?

Frankly, at this stage you can probably almost (just almost) ignore Bing from an SEO viewpoint. When it boils down to it does any thing other than Google (and Yahoo marginally) matter?

A link to highrevnue(.)com article is mentioned in above discussion. In the picture actual no. of visitors from each source is not shown.
Now assume google gives 100 visitors with bounce rate of 70% means there are 30 real visitors.
Bing gives around 10 visitors with bounce rate of 60% means there are 4 real visitors.
Again google wins because it has indexed more pages and so it will give more traffic.

Bing is giving quite a bit of leverage to url's that have some age to them.

There is no doubt (at least in my case) that Bing is sending traffic. Bing is sending more traffic then Yahoo to my recipe blog. While still not in the same neighborhood as Google, it is still traffic. And that is what counts!!!
