I'm amazed at just how many people outside the USA click on my blog daily. Thank you! I hope together we can work towards world peace. Check out my posting tonight as I discuss this at peoplepowergranny.blogspot.com. And vote in my poll as to whether you trust folks from other countries as well as those in your own.

I try to trust everyone at first (that's just who I am). When they screw me over, that's usually a sign they can't be trusted.

I don't know about other countries but I do know I don't trust people I don't trust and those usually are people I know and they are not from other countries. We can start with my next door neighbour or my son with a naked woman next to him.

I generally trust most people until they give me a reason not to. Of course when I get a "feeling" about someone, I've learned to not ignore it.

Trust starts with yourself. Reveal yourself and make yourself vulnerable to others, and you will encounter more trusting people than if you believe others are not to be trusted. Its simple.

Of course I do! Some of my favorite people are from other countries.

I would go with the gut - not the country of origin. But then NZ if fairly multi-cultral and everyone seems to have arrived here from somewhere else - so you kinda have to trust first and wait til you get bitten.

I lived outside the states for 17 years and I was treated with great respect. There are some crazy places in the world, and i've been to a few of them, but most of the people who come here from those places are here because their place was crazy, fanatic, totalitarian...So, I think we should treat all legals with respect. With the issue of illegals in America, i think if the government is going to let them stay here, then they should not be abused and should be treated with dignity. It is not right to come here illegally, but it is more wrong to abuse those who are here. I simply want to reciprocate with the same treatment I have received in my life as i traveled to 34 countries. We are our brother's and sisters' keepers!

I think I do also. The reason for that is we have the most people here with the interent and also we have the most blogs online.

There are good and not-so-good folk everywhere. One's country plays no role in that.

I know that international people add a lot of life to the party in America. I have spent my whole adult life around International people. America's face has drastically changed and for the better as a result of internationals, of whom are our for bearers as well. I do think America has to do something about Illegal immigration and make the legal kind easier.

xenophobia = an unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of that which is foreign or strange.

The Globe is like a Home and Countries are just like the Different rooms of house, so we all are family members and a family lives happy with trust, love and peace. I generally trust most people until they give me a reason not to.

The more I think about this question, the stranger it sounds. It's very, very odd, especially for me. I have been in numerous countries, locked in immigration for no reason at all, spat at, abused, had people try and rob me on numerous occassions, but still I think there are great people everywhere. It's a very very strange question to ask considering the amount of people in the world, the diversity of cultures and the individuals with in each culture. If you want to see the beauty of any culture, just watch the mothers with young children ...and then ask the question of whether you could trust those people.

I'm an American living in Germany. Some of the younger generations are really not happy with us being here (and we do not make it easy for them to like us), but I've personally had no problems at all. My family and I have made good friends here. People are just people no matter where you go. Sure, some people are jerks, but that is also everywhere. I will trust everyone until an individual gives me a reason not to.
    1. acousticguitarist
I have some wonderful German friends, but they are generally pretty serious people. Although, one friend is more laid back than most Australians I know, I find this very funny.
    2. GlossGreen
Germans do tend to take a while before they really become friendly with you. Once they do though, you could have a friend for life.

I live in Ireland and my whole family is in France (except my kids); of course I trust people from other countries! I don't trust the French President though, but neither do I trust the Irish Prime Minister!

Politicians are never to be trusted. They just tell you what you want to hear without having to actually fullfill their promises. But hey, other than vote, what can you do?
  22. rachaelbliss
You dog them! Write letters to the editor, write letters to their supporters and have them write letters. Don't let them get away from keeping their promises. Democracy continues to be much more powerful even after the vote. Don't give them a free ride after they're elected.

I don't trust furiners at all, oh poop, I am one well I suppose I am to Americans being that I am British, but then I am an America citizen, so that doesn't work. Okay I suppose I am to British because I am American, but I sound British, dang, that isn't going to work. I suppose if I go to Saudi Arabia they won't trust me because I am a (drumroll) a "feminist" from "america" or so it might seem.

Okay, never mind I am just in a facetious mood today. Like Jill and some others, I trust until given a reason not to, or trust my instincts and that has nothing to do with culture, race, gender etc.
  24. FLOOG
Yep, I agree with the last sentence from jafabrit completely... oh except for the part about being in a facetious mood..
