Recently I joined twitter and I have seen a bump in my blog traffic. I am curious to learn about your experience if you use twitter.
Also, how many followers do you need to have before you hit the 100 visitors/day on your blog?

Yes, I do use Twitter www.twitter.com/bookcalendar I may have more traffic on Twitter than on my blog. It does not affect blog traffic that much. It really is a separate service.

yeh i use twitter for traffic to my blog, but really i get about 1/5 from twitter, still helps though!

I use Twitter to talk to my friends mostly. I do promote my blog posts and I get Some traffic, but it's not a big source for me. as for getting 100 visitors/day, if Twitter is the only place you are promoting, I would expect 300--500 followers. There are many other places and ways of promoting your site.

selling your blog is one way. i am selling mine, take a look.

I'd be interested to see if you get the price you are asking. My daily page views are much lower than what you state in the listing, but my Alexa rank is much better, which makes me wonder a bit about the accuracy of the traffic data.
I would not want to sell and start over in any case. I am in this for the long haul and expect site revenues to increase over time.

I only started paying attention to twitter in the last month or so, but I'm up over 20 followers... so hopefully they click on my cartoon tweets.

We have a Twitter account that we genuinely enjoy, but the blog traffic we get from that service is minimal.

When I was in Canada in a small small town I took over a bar and grill, I was fresh off the boat from Australia my accent was obviously strong and one night someone walked in and "told me" my Irish accent was so sexy, this was before they even had a beer, when I told them I was Australian then all the "dundee" jokes started and all the stupid questions.

If you use it to tell your followers and new twitter members you meet that you have published a post it tends to create more traffic to your blog. Some people use it with magpie so they can make $ from it be-a-magpie.com/how-it-works

Well, personally I don't like to use a space that's meant for something else to promote my own stuff too much. I think it's ok to say, I wrote this today on a blog, here's the link. I feel that it's helped a bit and that little bit is fine with me. It's meant to reach the right people... But I would never add people just to get traffic to my blog. I am not supportive of that kind of competitive behaviour even if you're just competing with yourself!

Oh, Mizdeamenour, I just added you on Twitter since I saw your button here! Nothing wrong with that I gather? ;-) But over 800 followers?? How on earth did you do that? Personally I seldom add anyone to follow, I'm too shy. But I really don't look for masses of people, it only stresses me and seems pointless - but that's just me hun.

I do as well and I am gaining a little traffic from twitter. Better than nothing I guess

Of course nothing is wrong with that! thank u for adding me... don't be shy to add or follow people..believe me they wud never let u down. if only u've seen the direct messages i got...163 in two hours and before the night ended its around 250++ and they are all welcoming and thankful that i followed them. In the morning when i woke up i've got 822 e-mails from twitter saying this and this is now following u at twitter ( ...and counting). I tried my best to answer every direct messages which was impossible. So i just left a message in the public twitterboard for everyone. Besides, i really enjoyed reading the public tweets, its like a study in contrast of a variety of characters, and i have chatted with some coz our exchange of direct messages is back and forth. And whats so nice is they come from everywhere especially across the atlantic.. and from what i gather, lots of people are intrigued by Amsterdam... i think its a plus on my part that i live here.

Thanks for all the responses! I am beginning to like Twitter a lot; not just to drive traffic, but also to really get to know people who are interested in my subject. Learning new stuff from them everyday.
I just found out about MrTweet, check it out if you are interested.

I've tried to use it to drive some traffic, but have yet to see significant results (I actually have gotten most traffic from here and Digg). Oh well, I remain hopeful. Maybe someday I can be a Twidouche who follows only 5 people but has 1123581321 followers yay! LoL
I do really enjoy the funny snippets and some of the links I find on Twitter though.
P.S. If anyone has any Twips (Twitter-Tips) to help me along, it would be much appreciated! -
I have gotten some spam followers which I just ignore

I am not sure how people find time to twitter all day long -
Twitter as helped me gain more hits to my blog as well as to my other various websites.

Yes...I THINK so. I have quite a few readers, about 3-4K a day on my blog (my website has been around for 11 years) and just started twittering. I am wondering though if some people are getting their info from the twitter feeds and not bothering to check the blog now. I have to learn how to tease with the tweets, and get them to click on the link.

It also helps to be in a coalition with same-site blogs I've found.
