Can someone explain to me why Google PR, Alexa ranking, etc. is so inportant. I have 0 PR and terrible Alexa rank, but I get search engine traffic and for some search terms my blogs are very high in search results, so I was thinking does PR and the like really make a difference?

It does in the long term. Though you might have a search engine ranking to suit your needs at the moment but if a similar blog with a ranking of one does or provide similar services, then eventually he or she will over take you. However, there is another factor too honeybun, and that is your seo score. Like do a whois here for your site at www.whois.domaintools.com and after you do that you will notice a mini text browser in the right hand side of your screen showing your home page. Click on the status bar of that small text browser and it will show you your seo score. If your competitor have a seo score of 50% and a page rank of one say with similar contents and you have a page rank of zero with 90% seo score then it will be you whose page will be number uno.. Anyway.. Enough from me.. If you want a detailed report on what you can improve regarding the seo of your site just pm me with your site address and I will do a little with a software and it will help you improve a lot more. Wonders of tech sweetie!

You PR of 0 simply means you don't have any relative strength in the quality of your backlinks. Alexa can be very high (meaning low score) and your PR still at 0.
Get linked to relative sites & you'll see yout PR increase. (I thought I saw a post where your predicted PR was up to 4 - if so, then you must have done so already!)
