Michael Jackson made a few songs I enjoy listening to. Outside that, I have absolutely no interest in him.
    1. krishnakk
      i agree with it

    This is a joke right?

Michael Jackson has the best selling album of all time (Thriller), with over 100 million albums sold worldwide.

When someone else can do that let me know.

      Molesting children is no joke...

Making music does not make a wonderful human being, a role model, or a hero.

Michael Jackson made amazing music, but he was a VERY VERY flawed man. One that should ONLY be celebrated for his musical accomplishments.

      Do not espouse his humanity.

Everyone is flawed...if a microscope where put over your life, I'm sure people would judge you as harshly. No one is perfect. Michael was an entertainer...did he entertain? Hell yes he did. Done, nothing else matters. The acusations against him were never ours to judge.

and he has inherited a huge debt too...

What was it that he intended to do? Your question is pretty vague. It seems most of the discussion topics you put up are quite vague actually.

If his intentions were to become one of the best selling artists of all time and to become a worldwide cultural icon, then I think he did pretty well. That being said, I don't know what his intentions were.

      YAY!!!!! Right on Jay... exactly.

what do you speculate his intentions were?
  7. celticmusicfan
i no longer do that. it gives me migrains.
  8. burmesedays
I have no idea what he intended to do. Way too vague a question for a a meaningful discussion.

what did michael jackson intend to do? by your opinion?
  10. celticmusicfan
@jaybetee looking at this thread and reviewing the above discussion I was having laughing fits. Anyway the "nice point" statement was address to you.Two words get it?
  11. krishnakk
i think intentions of individuals doesn't matter.
    1. burmesedays
If intentions of individuals do not matter, why did you ask the question?
  12. mindarraina
He is a legend. I love his songs. Did you know his intention?
  13. wormcarnevale
his intention was to live, like the rest of us and to do his 50 show tour in england.
  14. krishnakk
the discussion is not about intentions. i think you have misunderstood it.
    1. clioandme
But you used the verb "intend" in your original question.
  15. legbamel
Well, he certainly failed miserably at staying alive. Was that what you meant, or was there something else at which he failed that you had in mind. You've left this rather wide open.
    1. clioandme
      Indeed.
  16. krishnakk
i am just trying to understand whether he was a failure or not
    1. legbamel
But a failure at what? At family life? Clearly, he was. At being a pop star? Obviously, he was not. At creating global change for the better? Well, that depends on your perspective but on the whole I'd say he was more a failure than not, except in creating music that people from all around the world recognize. Do you know that song, "I'd like to teach the world to sing"? Jackson taught them to dance in unison, too.
  17. krishnakk
ture that was a great song.
  18. krishnakk
great songs dont make great men and vice versa, right?
  19. wagerwitch
I am so surprised at all of you who keep saying Jackson was a molester.

No one has EVER spoken badly or against him...

Yet - because 2 very poor children from trailer park poor families say their children were molested (OUT OF HUNDREDS of children who had stayed there...) and took payment to stop talking about it...

You think a parent - a true parent that was NOT after money - would take MONEY to shut up?

    Not me baby... not me.

I'd have to see the person responsible for molesting my child DEAD or in jail.

    I'd never take money.

    But they did.

    That should tell you something.

    THEY TOOK MONEY...

    That's what they were after...

    Now - was Jackson GREAT?

Yes - in a lot of ways, he changed the music industry and opened doors for many musicians.

He crossed the barriers between races.

He was a total philanthropist and shared his money.

NONE of the people who knew him spoke badly of him.

Not even the people he fired...

Those that did speak badly of him did so anonymously --- hmmmmmmm...

Jealousy of money and success breeds envious people who say many bad things - none of them proveable.

Listen to his song "Leave Me Alone" - and then say these things again.

In fact - watch the video.

Jackson was a great performer - great entertainer - great philanthropist - and his family says he was a great father and family member.

So - was he a failure?

    At what?
    1. yunyi2009
i have never in one second in my life believed that jackson was a child molester. not because that i am his fan, not because he is a celebrity, because ART CANNOT LIE! listen to some of his song, like "heal the world", "we are the world, we are the child", "earth song", how beautiful, how deep touching! they cannot be written by a person who didn't have a beautiful heart.
so, if you have doubt to the law, doubt to the fame, doubt to people that beyond your cognition, please, do not doubt art. it shows artists' heart!

I'll leave it up to the gods to decide what man or woman is a failure. It's certainly not a call I feel competent to make.
  21. amybyrd21
If by failur3e you means he couldnt turn himself from a black man into a white woman yes he was a failure. How can you judge someones life as a failure. Maybe he wanted it to be that way. Maybe it made him happy. Maybe he didnt care what other people thought of him and what he wanted. He just lived his life the way he wanted to.
  22. Floormodel
    the question makes no sense.

but I'd say yes, he was miserable but I don't see him as a failure.
