So every now and then we will see a thread that states someone requested kissing of ads or what not, but it usually only ever goes as far as a few comments, some pasting of TOS and later on the next person gets a message from them stating the same thing. Well, I say call em out. (probably a TOS violation, but what the hell? I am so sick of people telling me they have kissed ads when I am ad free).

So first up we have:

I have reported and deleted all mine, but I like the idea of this thread.
    1. ArsenicCookies
It could also be used for the "I visited/reviewed/friended you now you do the same" messages as well depending on the posters mood hehe
  2. melindaville
    The FOR SHAME thread!
    1. ArsenicCookies
hehe yep. Plus I wanted a chance to use the tag "things that annoy endlessly"
    2. melindaville
"endless rants" would have been fine too!
    3. ArsenicCookies
hehe believe it or not that is actually a category on my blog.
    4. melindaville
      I'm not surprised--it's a good one!
  3. dcarroll
I report and delete all that I receive.

And, if I have time and the blog is on blogger, I go a step further.
    1. ArsenicCookies
I am unfamiliar with blogger (had it for like a split second), what can you do through them?

I have clicked the spam button on the click fraud requests I have received so Admin knows who these members who are involved in and advocating click fraud are.

I'm not clear on what happens after Admin is notified. Do you know what action Admin takes after they receive the reports of the shouts advocating click fraud that we mark as "spam" ?
    1. ArsenicCookies
not sure, I may be overstepping but it seems like nothing (sorry guys) only because I have had one user do it 5 times in a week and I report every last one. I figured this way it was like a little extra "ohhhh I'm tellin'...."
    2. timethief
Part of keeping out community "clean" and removing the members who are harassing us with these spammy click fraud requests is the responsibility of members, who are expected to report them by clicking the "spam" button on the shout. I do that and I know many other members do also.

The other part is Admin following through in some manner. What do you think? Do we need Admin to weigh in and tell us exactly what action they take? I'd like to hear what they do to rid out community of these unethical click fraud advocating spammers.

As we are receiving more than one shout advocating click fraud from the same members over and over again, maybe Admin and the members need to brainstorm and come up with an effective deterrent, and/or a policy that results in banning when the behavior is repeated.

For the convenience of new members. here's the link that confirms that encouraging clicks on Google Adsense ads is a breach of the contract, policies and the TOS www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=48182
    3. melindaville
I'd be interested to hear what they do too.
    4. ArsenicCookies
I think an admin's input would be great. I also posted this since google crawls everything myab if they saw click fraud and links they'd take action as well. Admins, where ya at? Do tell, since I am a tad curious
  5. ThriftShopRomantic
Oh fer pete's sake, now they're "$miling" on us, too?!

Man, if they spent more time just writing good content instead of trying to come up with clever ways to work dollar signs for "S" in their spam messages, they'd probably get farther.

    (And we'd be less annoyed)

I report 'em as spam. It makes me feel good to hit that spam button.

    Or is it $pam?
    1. ArsenicCookies
oh yes, they also 'hug$' my non existant ads That takes talent
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
I've had the hugger$ before myself.

      They're a touchy-feely bunch, aren't they?
    3. ArsenicCookies
ah a bunch of hopele$$ romantic$ they are
    4. ThriftShopRomantic
      (Snort) Niiice.
    5. WhiteSockGirl
Romantic? Ah, more like horny stalkers!
    6. ThriftShopRomantic
      Heh-- $talker$
    7. WhiteSockGirl
$talked you, please $talk me back! hahaha,...

    @endlesslyshesaid
As you posted this thread I'll leave it to you to contact Admin and ask for them to post a clarification, so we all know exactly how they proceed upon receiving the click fraud shouts after we mark them as "spam".
    1. ArsenicCookies
I have alerted admin and am anxiously awaiting a response
    2. timethief
Thanks. I'll check back here later.

Right now I'm up to my eyeballs troubleshooting on my domain -- arrrggghhh!
    3. MissSuzie
I wonder how they would react if I responded with "That's great, but next time, how about you just ki$$ my a$$"
      1. timethief
IMHO sending back smart apple comments will not be effective. Let's face it, by responding with sarcasm we would be acting like this is funny business, and minimizing and trivializing the behavior that we want to STOP.

These unethical types are money motivated. IMHO the sensible way to proceed is to kick them in the wallet. When they are discovered by Google Adsense their accounts are banned and they are blacklisted.

When you receive these unethical requests go to their blogs and find the little Google Adsense logo. Click it and a complaint form will open. Scroll down and complete the appropriate fields. In the bottom box for additional comments copy and paste the PM you goy in your BC shoutbox as evidence. Then click the form closed. Lastly, mark the shout as "spam" which sends it to BC Admin. FWIW I have never received a second click fraud request shout from the same members I reported to Google Adsense.
        • MissSuzie
But that doesn't sound as fun.

I report them all as well. I can't stand a cheater.
      2. nothingprofound
I make friends with all the spammers. In fact two are coming over tonight for dinner. They're bringing a briefcase full of $$$$$$$
      3. PetLvr
I've already been chewed out today by Daniel (thegoodknife) on this issue - since my last thread and "Call 'em Out" discussion was deleted this morning. I was warned not to call 'em out and report them instead, and instead I reiterate that I will never report a fellow BC'er as spam who comes into my private shoutbox and leaves me one private message stating he/she has kiSSed my ads and I should do the same .. no sirree.

I believe its our right to let these newbies know that we do NOT TOLERATE CLICK FRAUD and risk ruining our reputations and good standing in the google adsense community - in the public community.

I will continue to call them out every time.

In the meantime, however - i did promise thegoodknife that I wouldn't continue with my rants (after my initial one) so, I won't be naming names of the past (and using $$ in the word kiSSed too)
        1. timethief
          @petlvr
What? My head is spinning. This must be a mistake.

I'm standing with you. I will publish the BC username of each and every BC member who dares to send me another click fraud request.
        2. timethief
For clarity what I meant above was: publish the names on my blog. As I do not have monetized blogs this will expose those who claim they clicked my ads as liars as well as participants in click fraud. First I will confirm with the American lawyers I work for that doing so will not transgress any laws, Terms of Service or guidelines and if not then I will proceed to expose them to my readers.
        3. thegoodknife
to be clear we do permanently ban any member who asks another user to click their ads, even if its just one shout. Please make sure to hit the SPAM link in your shoutbox should you receive this type of request. Thanks!
        4. timethief
          @Daniel
Thanks for your reply. I guess I'm doing all the right things already. I do have another question though that arises from what TonyB said just below this entry.

He says: Google will penalize BC too when they see requests from our members for ads to be clicked.

My response is: Oh no! I don't want to do anything to harm BC. Would it be better for BC if I do not copy and paste the text from the click fraud shouts into the Google Adsense complaint form?
      4. TonyB
Google will penalize BC too when they see requests from our members for ads to be clicked. We are adding some additional ways to id ki$$ requests.
        1. ArsenicCookies
oooh, so don't post their user names then?
        2. thegoodknife
no need to post usernames, we automatically track all users asking for a kiss or smile on their blog.
        3. ArsenicCookies
well then I say, here here or hear hear.. never really figured out which haha
        4. thegoodknife
          HEAR HERE?
        5. ArsenicCookies
dammit that is a possibility I had not even considered haha. Friggin homeschooling/catholic schooling/prep school education! Its worthless I tell ya
        6. ThriftShopRomantic
Endless, don't feel bad-- I wasn't homeschooled, and I've wondered which "here" it was for years.

I also just found myself wondering about Claire's "toe/tow" the line in the other thread.
        7. timethief
FWIW I believe the expression comes from the practice of town criers who stood in the village square and proclaimed loudly: "Oh hear ye". I believe that over time this became: "Hear! Hear!"
        8. ArsenicCookies
oh good... I have been getting this strange feeling that I have been getting "dumber" with age haha
        9. ThriftShopRomantic
Alrighty-- then, that's two things that have been bugging me solved today!

          Thanks, guys.
        10. crpitt
I have to google things religiously, I have google moogle syndrome.
        11. wagerwitch
You are NOT getting dumber and dumberer with age... You're just realizing all the things YOU don't know...
        12. timethief
OMG! It's contagious. I have it too.
      5. trailofpen
Yeah, I hate when people put their lips all over my ads. I feel so violated. And, since we're calling people out, I want to call out you Michael Bay for deceiving people into thinking you actually know how to direct a film!
      6. trailofpen
And no, I did not click the submit button twice.
        1. MissSuzie
          Clever.
      7. lisleman
thanks for this thread - good info
      8. blackwater
        Kissed ads?
        1. timethief
It's a stupid code they use. Kissing ads, ki$$ing ads, vi$it my site I'll vi$it yours, and hugging ads are all euphemisms for click fraud
        2. blackwater
So those 25 clicks on my infolinks must have been that guy....
        3. timethief
Well, they sure as heck weren't from me.
        4. blackwater
          never said that
        5. timethief
Of course you didn't. FWIW I don't visit blogs that are pimped out for money more than once, and I don't click ads on blogs - ever.
        6. theshutterbugeye
YEa, I had ignored some shout messages that were kisses or what not cause i just thought??? What?? Kisses/? Do I know you??? Hmm, now I get it.

I also notice $ instead of s in words in otherwise normal messages. Is that what it's supposed to mean?

UGh. I have found a lot of spammers here.
      9. tonybeach
Hi fellow Yorker...great to meet you....
        Great post..
        Tony
      10. thegoodknife
well the good news is that we are removing about 10-15 of these users a day. bad news is they just keep coming.
        1. Anok
Is there anyway to establish if someone's blog may be suspicious when they request to become a member? Wait, let me try that again - is there a similarity between blogs of members who like to kiss and hug and smile ads that you can identify so as you can prevent a good deal of them from even getting into BC and spamming and such?
        2. legbamel
I wonder if some of them come here with good intentions, get that message from a spammer, and think that it's an ingenious (and acceptable) method of making money, particularly if English is not their first language and they have difficulty communiciating well in it. I can just picture someone thinking, "Oh, I never thought of that!" and diligently spamming the heck out of people because they are such noobs that they don't know any better.
      11. blackwater
Can I call out spammers here?
      12. bettieblogger
I've never been ki$$ed by so many strangers in my life .. I feel so dirty
        1. ArsenicCookies
