Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, Bee Gees.

The Grateful Dead had to grow on me, but once they did I find their music to be the best.

Their were just humble guys enjoying playing music. Their image was just a marketing strategy. Plus whenever they did an interview they were so very funny. Lots of concerts on DVD

    Crack me up.....

  27. MadameX
Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith, Bruce Cockburn, U2 up to the mid-eighties. But of course I have that enduring soft spot on a personal level for Rick Springfield (who is also seriously underrated as a guitarist and songwriter because the most bubble-gum of his songs are the only ones you've ever heard).
  28. binventive
Beatles, Moody Blues, Allman Brothers, Jethro Tull to name a few

  34. tenanimalsdrool
i like rivermaya, eraserheads and parokya ni edgar^^
  35. legbamel
Oingo Boingo holds the #1 musical spot in my heart, and has for 20+ years. I love Paul Simon, They Might Be Giants (the older the better), David Byrne (with and without the Talking Heads), U2 pre-1990, The Clash, REM pre-1990, Barenaked Ladies pre-2003, the Violent Femmes, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones after 1992, Queen, Bing Crosby, and the Rat Pack.

I listen to just about anything that isn't country (and even some of that) or really hard-core rap. A lot of great bands are victims of their own success and their artistic voice collapses under the weight of popularity.

Wait - I forgot Michelle Shocked, Frente, Belly, and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
  36. PGWake
    Pink Floyd

  38. PetLvr
As a whole, these are my top 5 bands I would listen to in my .mp3 collection that usually appear on every playlist, or I play separately...

    1) B-52's
    2) Jane's Addiction
    3) Jesus Jones
    4) Tragically Hip
    5) Yes

And, that means liking 100% of their music. I also seem to like only 2 songs of Madonna (Ray of Light, Beautiful Stranger) and hate all her other stuff. Of course, I've got almost 800 different artists in my collection, tomorrow there could always be new favorites.
    1. legbamel
Thank you! I was trying to think of Jesus Jones yesterday and had a mind block. Jane's Addiction is amazing, too. They were a big part of the soundtrack for my college career along with the Femmes and The Red Hot Chili Peppers' Mother's Milk.
    2. PetLvr
Jane's Addiction new album is pretty good too - besides the old stuff. I've been listening to Tahitian Moon and about 6 other songs over and over today.
