Awesome post! I have been reading some of the poems! Thanks!

      Thank you so much!

Well, since I've only been blogging for 2 months, I have less posts to choose.

I love stuff about social media and how people use it. Thanks for sharing that post.
  2. tmcafe
That's a great collection of poetry, gadfly.

Wow, it's so hard to pick out my best post of the year (they're all terrible ... just kidding, I hope). Based on the statistics, this seemed to generate the most interest => Do you have a large surplus, or are you being controlled by those who do? www.talkmoneycafe.com/?p=182
    1. GabrielGadfly
Thanks tmcafe. I really enjoyed your post. Gave it a stumble.
    2. rileycentral
Very interesting post about money and control. I think that is shifting a bit don't you? I really wish you didn't require registration for comments but oh well, to each his own
    3. tmcafe
Thank you very much for the stumble gabriel, and thanks for checking out the blog riley. Yes, I do believe that things are shifting quite a bit when it comes to the economy, money, and control. You should be able to comment without being required to register an account.

I think my best post is here about what I think of Christiuanity, comparing it to music.

I had no less than FOUR people comment that they peed their pants while reading this:

As a humor blogger, what could be a better endorsement than readers wetting their pants?

      That was a great post!

Very descriptive. I know that ride and you had me reliving it! Thanks for putting it in the mix as your best of 2008. Happy new year!

I've already posted one on the other thread but this one probably gets the most hits and I'm still getting comments on it!

      That one is great.

I actually think all of my posts were good but not because I wrote them. Each one has a flare of it's own and a message uniquely for each individual.

I have to be honest, I'm not a fan of long posts, but yours actually held my attention! Clever and interesting.
  14. saiffarooqi
i began my blog in May 2008, so my best post of 2008 will be the best of my whole blog ...
it won't be possible for me to choose one ... so, i would say that the following three posts are my best ones:

    lifepsychologyandalotmore.blogspot.com/2008/05/loneliness-harbinger-to-alon...

    lifepsychologyandalotmore.blogspot.com/2008/09/ideal-school-environment-bui...

I'm enjoying reading these folks. I just got caught up and read each one. Nice work everyone! I say we keep this open for submissions until New Year's Day. It would be great to get everyone's best of 2008 in a thread. Don't you think? Thanks also to those leaving comments after you read.

    phailpail.com/2008/12/wo-wo-wo-windows-windows-386/

I found an unbelievably cheesy video that Microsoft released to promote its Windows platform back in the 80s. This post is a description of just how godawful the video was.
    1. rileycentral
That video is so classic! What a great post, I Stumbled it.
  17. clioandme
My longest and most read post is now irrelevant: "The Case Against Sarah Palin," which I posted on Sept. 4th, when she was still relatively unknown. markstoneman.wordpress.com/2008/09/04/the-case-against-sarah-palin/

My best? That's for others to decide. It depends on whether you want practical information and advice, history, political opinion, or something more personal.
    1. rileycentral
Your Palin piece got a lot of comments! Very impressive. As I said earlier to someone else, I have to admit I'm not a fan of longs pieces but I read most of it and liked the points you made.
    2. clioandme
I mainly do short pieces, because most of my blogging is spontaneous, but sometimes a subject calls for something longer. I also like TimeThief's suggestions about longer "anchor posts" that are rich in links pointing to other posts on the same blog. (She's blogged about it and done a thread here too.)
    3. clioandme
So you're back with the attitude again. Oh well. (I'm talking about your first paragraph.)
    1. rileycentral
I really liked the title! Not because I agree with drug dealers, just because it was something different that caught my attention.
    2. kush86
Yeah. Great title, but still the best article I have ever written since I started blogging.
  18. jackpayne
Don't get it. Do you mean Discussion Group posts or Blog posts? My best Discussion Group post was announcing Sarah Palin for VP. It drew some 750 comments. On my blog, best puller was on Dumpster Diving, which drew 59 comments.
    1. rileycentral
Exciting year for you. Link em if you like.

My personal favorite was discussing clients who are difficult to communicate with email:

    buildinternet.com/2008/12/6-ways-to-get-the-email-response-you-need/

But this article on scrolling received more attention:

    buildinternet.com/2008/12/below-the-fold-why-scrolling-isnt-a-bad-thing/
  21. rileycentral
That's a great post on email! I have found that the bold subheadings breaking up the post are easier for them to read and hence more "sticky."
  22. cranelegs
probably the following and thanks for the opportunity for a little bc promotion:

Very awesome post! @cranelegs I really enjoyed it!
  23. rileycentral
That is a nice little metaphor. You should post your second fave of '08 since I just read that one yesterday
  24. cranelegs
that's all i have damien. 780 posts and that's it. but if i had to choose a second best it would be:

      Reminded me of TS Eliot:

Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me.

Thanks for posting a second I have you on my feed reader now.

I'm partial to this one from Sept 27. The poem is about a recurring dream and is called "Recurrence". As a cancer survivor I thought my readers might freak-out if they saw a post with this name, so the post is untitled.

You're into stamping dates and ages I noticed. Interesting. Blogs can be timeless and they can be landmarks in time as yours seems to be. I say let the dude go but I understand the emotion of the poem. It's often easier said than done.

Gotta go with my 50 Free Sites to Watch Movies & TV Online post. I put the most research, effort and time into the 5-part series. It also increased my traffic from 100 daily views to an average of 1000 daily views.

I don't consider this my best post and there are a lot of in the previous I liked but this one made it to the 21st spot among the WP's Top 100 Posts of the day since yesterday! tinyurl.com/SCD64.

My blog's quite fresh and has been running only for a couple of months and this is really unexpected! XD

Best Post of 2008 UPDATE: Thank you so much for submitting these posts. I got the idea to star this from here: confidentwriting.com/2008/12/simply-the-best-posts-of-2008/ (My post is listed as #23)

Since I've had such a great response here at BC I will be publishing each link submitted on a future post at my PR1 blog that just in this month (Dec 2009) has had 11,000 unique visitors.

    www.postcardsfromthefunnyfarm.com/

In other words, I feel I could get your post some exposure.

Please continue to post your "best" (just one each please) the deadline will be tomorrow night 9pm pst December 30th. I want to assemble the post to publish Jan. 1st.

Last thing, if you'd like to write a 30-40 word blurb about your post that would be great otherwise I will just post your link.

These links will be DOFOLLOW to give you Google juice. I do reserve the right to not post any links I choose not to post. FYI.
  34. rileycentral
Thanks again for everyone submitting their best of 2008. You're almost famous already Remember the deadline! december-30th-2008-9pm-pst

This is my best post i think for 2008. This is my most commented entry and most discussed among friends and collegues. Their reactions inspired me to go on writing as they gave me moral support and assurance that i am good at what i am doing. This may not be on the serious side but humour is what I am inclined to, so pardon if u find this article a bit too shallow for your taste. A link on your site would make me more than happy enough. Anything more than that is a bonus.

    AT the risk of necro-posting...
