I have worked as an archaeologist in the North-East, Essex, and North Wales. I left the profession to bring up 4 kids on my own, and became an IT consultant.

I returned to archaeology & I started a PhD at Newcastle University in 2006. My research interest in prehistoric buildings and structures as represented by postholes, I cannot afford the fees, so this blog my outlet for 20 years of research.

My PhD was confined to Southern England in the 1st Millennium BC, but my interest covers all prehistoric building in Western Europe from the Neolithic onwards.

My approach is to consider the viability of structures in terms of engineering, and building materials. This has led me to a less ‘primitive’ view of prehistoric building in England, which is at odds with the generally excepted understanding of the subject.

I am also a musician, songwriter, poet, comedy performer and photographer, who is interested in yoga, meditation, and tantra, but I only blog about archaeology.

Very interesting and informative posts. Erudite and well-written. "Built environment"-an intriguing concept. Enjoyed the "Seeing is believing" article. Seeing and Believing are subjects I think and write about a lot. subject

Thanks! Yours is very interesting. I studied History and Archaeology and visiting blogs like yours is a way to keep in touch with it. I'm not in that area any more, but maybe I'll go back one day too.
