To give you a little background on myself I’m a 19 year old Finance Major at SUNY New Paltz in New York. At the time of writing this (July 2008) I’m about to go into my third semester there. For some reason I actually enjoy economics and politics despite the fact that almost all people hate them, yes I’m strange I suppose. Regardless I hope to help educate the public about many things and enable them to take action. As long as I’ve been old enough to understand the world around me it’s been in chaos starting with September 11th, through the Iraq war, into the presidential primaries of 2008. I’ve never really understood how our country’s government could become as disliked, bloated, and useless as it has but I’m tired of dealing with it and the petty things that keep us from progressing. The fact that the United States, the most powerful and wealthy country on Earth can’t get anything done is a disgrace. It’s a mockery of everything we stand for. While I may be young in the eyes of many I know that the system is broken and I know that even the methods that are meant to fix the system are broken. My view is that the majority of problems in government arise because citizens don’t understand the repercussions of political moves like the recently proposed gas tax holiday. They hear it will save them money and they jump on board but they don’t recognize the long term harm done by them. I believe most problems in America could have been avoided if people had been educated enough to realize these that while a plan may save you a few dollars a year it can cripple the country. For this reason I ask you to help me to restore this nation to greatness using just one thing, education of the public. I know many of you are as hungry for change as I am and I’m asking you to help me make that change a reality.
