I am 43 years old. I used to be a self-supporting, tax-paying, and active, contributing member of society in Kirkland, WA until 2004.
In 2003 I had to leave my marriage and home of 8 years; unfortunately my business was part of that home (a state-of-the-art professional piano studio with baby grand). I fled my home not as a spouse but as a complete stranger; legally unmarried. My life was threatened over our joint stock portfolio, among other actions THAT WOULD BE CRIMES - CRIMES - if I were LEGALLY married. Leaving under extreme duress led to P.T.S.D., which led to countless job losses over the next 4 years, gradual liquidation of all assets, bankruptcy, and eventually an inability to work, then a suicide attempt and homelessness in April 2006 - one month after I had NO other choice BUT to go on public assistance.
I have been permanently disabled due to our federal government's LEGAL EXCLUSION of Q-families from Civil Marriage Rights...from Family Rights.
I now blog to avoid the insanity and RAGE I feel as I listen, wait for, and experience other Americans (who often already HAVE that right) "debating" AND voting on my CIVIL RIGHT to marry the person I love.
HETS would fight and KILL if in our legal shoes.
What do Q's do? We Beg, Plead, Hold Signs, Donate Money (if we have disposable income), March, Beseech, "Campaign", and Have Equality-Fundraisers and are content with Groveling to a place of Dignity for the next 25-30 years.
Are you FED UP with having to be "liked enough" for equal rights?
Do you believe EQUALITY is OURS TO TAKE and will you REFUSE to beg for it?
